Date: 2011-07-05 11:34 am (UTC)I understand that it can be somewhat intimidating! Sometimes people post entries and you want to comment but you don't know what to say. Sometimes people post comments and you want to reply but there are just no words. It is hard to start approaching people first if you're not used to it, but if you just take that one step, they might just meet you halfway and you'll start connecting more with them.
Please don't give up; there are tons of really great people here and many of them may just feel the way you do. I don't know who you are, but I hope I have been talking enough to you. All the best. ♥

Date: 2011-07-07 03:23 pm (UTC)E.g. Ranting about your parents would go something like this:
"Dear Mom,
texttttt.
Sincerely,
Pressured Daughter"
And then others can reply through that format too, offering advice and such. :D I've seen this on online gaming site forums, and I find that it's highly successful in ranting / relieving stress. IDK, I just think it adds a bit of the fun element to this thread.
(IT'S ME AGAIN. BUT I'LL STAY ANON AND LET YOU GUESS WHO I AM. 8D)

Date: 2011-07-08 06:12 am (UTC)I've seen this kind of thing, too, though it's mostly in advice blogs around LJ. o_o Never in a gaming site before, but it makes sense that it works well.
(I SIMPLY HAVE NO IDEA! Hahaha. I'm mostly oblivious, so if you don't flat out tell me or give me a really obvious hint, I'll probably miss it. But thank you so much for the suggestion, and I hope everything's going on well on your end! ♥)

Date: 2011-07-17 02:45 pm (UTC)How can you respond to comments? I never know what to say so I just leave them there until a week later and reply with something short and full of smileys, and/or an agreement of what they've said. I suck at replying to entries from my flist, too. I always reply a few days later with the pretense of being behind my flist when in fact, I was just thinking of what I could say, and procrastinating on having to think of a comment. And when I reply, it's generic, and similar to what have already been said. I feel like I'm a nuisance on their flist an is "just another commenter" who doesn't even give proper replies. The only reason I'm still on their flist is because they haven't have a friends cut yet, or because they would feel bad by cutting me. I don't know.

Date: 2011-07-17 03:17 pm (UTC)Okay. Ahem. That aside... I'm not sure. I find that answering comments comes to me depending on the topic of the comment, haha. To be honest, I have trouble commenting/answering comments made by some people on my f-list, but thankfully most of them are so easy to talk to. I guess it's just a matter of interest as well? Normally if I'm interested in what they have to say or vice versa, I'll find it a lot easier to talk. I guess you can reply to a comment by asking a question related to that comment. Say, if someone says something along the lines of, "THIS IS SUCH A COOL MOVIE." (I'm paraphrasing from several posts on my f-list concerning the HP7 Part 2 movie), you might reply something like, "I AGREE", and to add, ask questions like "What's your favorite scene/How do you feel about *insert particular scene*?"
Err... as I don't know the specifics, I can only give you really generic advice. Sorry about that. Do you have any examples you can possibly tell me? Anyway, all I'm trying to say right now is... ask questions if you don't know what to say. That's what I do, haha. I hope that helps? And I hope you feel more comfortable talking to your f-list! ♥

Date: 2011-07-29 10:34 pm (UTC)I like you already.
also I'm incredibly excited because on fanfiction I wrote a story called belladonna in the tea and that's your blog name sort of and that just makes me go all giddy.

Date: 2011-07-30 10:20 am (UTC)OMG, did you really? I had no idea. I was complaining to my friend that I didn't know what to name my journal and she was the one who pretty much told me it. (Maybe she read your fanfic, I have no idea. I'm so sorry! If you don't feel comfortable with it, be sure to tell me and I'll find something else.) It's a really, really, really pretty title, by the way, so I applaud you so much for coming up with it!

Date: 2011-07-30 12:42 pm (UTC)Yes I did but I'm totally cool with it~ Is your friend on FF? If she is I might know that she's read it, so...? If you feel ok with telling me her FF penname, obviously.
But really I'm fine with you using it. It kinda makes me feel special. And excited. Thanks for liking it ♥

Date: 2011-07-31 02:36 am (UTC)I'm glad, though, that it makes you feel special! Holler if you want me to credit or anything like that. :) How did you find me, by the way? Did we ever talk somewhere else? ♥

Date: 2011-07-31 07:13 pm (UTC)Haha, feeling special is great. And seriously though you don't have to give me credit because we don't know if it comes from me~
Just read a comment, actually, and I liked your picture or something like that and I clicked on the link~ But no I don't think we've talked before. Maybe possibly on FF but I can't remember...

Date: 2011-08-01 12:43 pm (UTC)I assume it does! It's not a common phrase or anything, haha. Ah, I see. I can't remember either, but then again I rarely open FF nowadays, not even to read. The quality saddens me. D:

Date: 2011-08-01 03:41 pm (UTC)Well maybe. But still, I refuse to take credit until we know it's mine. Yeah, I know what you mean about quality on FF. However, I have a knack for picking out good ones. LiveJournal is typically much better quality though, isn't it?

Date: 2011-08-02 01:59 am (UTC)I'd say no, u but then it'd probably dissolve in a you-hang-up-no-you-hang-up kind of love fiasco.
But I love you, bb!

Date: 2011-08-02 11:54 am (UTC)You have an awesome instinct, then! And yes, LJ has way better quality. Maybe because most of us blog, or something. I have no idea. I actually heard that people from FFN are migrating to something called Archive of Our Own...?

Date: 2011-08-02 12:08 pm (UTC)BAHAHA. See, you know me so well. I love you, too, if it means anything to you~ ♥ Hope everything's well on your end!

Date: 2011-08-02 09:16 pm (UTC)It's very useful. ^___^ Yeah, that could be. And I haven't heard of Archive of Our Own, I'll check it out.

Date: 2011-08-03 10:31 am (UTC)Here's Archive of Our Own (http://archiveofourown.org/). I think it's basically just a new FFN, though I haven't really checked. Poor site has really gone down the drain, though. I seriously question the quality of some fanfiction nowadays. D:

Date: 2011-08-03 02:22 pm (UTC)Hm, seems cool. I'll check it out. FF is really getting overthrown by Mary-Sue and badly written fics, though. It's a shame.
no subject
Date: 2011-08-04 03:35 pm (UTC)Yes, it is. When did you first start on FFN? I stumbled upon the site sometime in 2003, I think, and wow, it used to be so much better. It's really a shame.

Date: 2011-08-04 05:01 pm (UTC)I've been reading for maybe four years..? A friend showed it to me and I loved it. But yes, the quality was better.

Date: 2011-08-05 03:53 pm (UTC)Aww, I see. Yes, it's really too bad about the quality...
