I have no idea. o_o I don't think so, sadly, haha. I really haven't checked FFN anymore save for Dramione fics, because... the last HP movie really brought out the Potter fan in me. XD

You have an awesome instinct, then! And yes, LJ has way better quality. Maybe because most of us blog, or something. I have no idea. I actually heard that people from FFN are migrating to something called Archive of Our Own...?

Oh, it's not sad~ Gosh, I know what you mean, HP7 just got me up and running...and reading countless Dramione fics, haha.

It's very useful. ^___^ Yeah, that could be. And I haven't heard of Archive of Our Own, I'll check it out.

From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
You ship Dramione too? What are your favorite fics of them? :D

Here's Archive of Our Own (http://archiveofourown.org/). I think it's basically just a new FFN, though I haven't really checked. Poor site has really gone down the drain, though. I seriously question the quality of some fanfiction nowadays. D:

From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
Yes, I do. ^__^ I don't know, actually, because I haven't favorited anything lately.

Hm, seems cool. I'll check it out. FF is really getting overthrown by Mary-Sue and badly written fics, though. It's a shame.

Date: 2011-08-04 03:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
Aww, that's too bad. D:

Yes, it is. When did you first start on FFN? I stumbled upon the site sometime in 2003, I think, and wow, it used to be so much better. It's really a shame.

From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
Haha, there's one—"barricade" by Dictionary Ink on FF. That's good.

I've been reading for maybe four years..? A friend showed it to me and I loved it. But yes, the quality was better.

Date: 2011-08-05 03:53 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
I've never read that, though I've heard of Dictionary Ink! I'll give it a try. Do you normally read one-shots or multichaptered fics? :D

Aww, I see. Yes, it's really too bad about the quality...

Date: 2011-08-05 07:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
Yeah, Dictionary Ink is good. I typically read one-shots unless a multichapter really, really catches my eye.

I've been writing for a little less than a year, I think. Though I have managed to publish 50 stories. ^___^

Date: 2011-08-06 02:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
Ah, I see. I wish I'm more interested in oneshots! I wouldn't spend so much time reading fanfiction and procrastinating, then. As it is... I'm so in love with multichaptered fics, LOL. I guess I just really love it when the relationship develops over time. :)

50 stories! That's awesome. I have two accounts on FFN (only one that's active), but I'm nowhere as productive as you are. ♥ What fandoms do you normally write for?

Date: 2011-08-06 03:29 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
haha, I suppose it's one or the other, honestly. I like multichaptered fics and seeing the relationship develop, but I always feel it's a harder feat to accomplish a good oneshot than a good multichapter -- however odd that might sound. I mean, it's harder to accomplish emotion in a shorter piece but a lot of good authors do, every time.

yeah. it kind of freaks me out some days -- like oh my goodness how do I write so much? my writing's got better lately and though my older style was good it was rough around the edges. I've smoothed it out a lot lately, I think. :)

I write for only a few, typically -- Pokemon, Naruto, Avatar The Last Airbender, Greek Mythology, though I'm extending my genres and fandoms as we speak.

Date: 2011-08-08 02:02 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
It doesn't sound odd at all! In fact, it kind of makes sense, haha. With a longer piece you have all the time you need to develop the characters, the relationship, etc., but with oneshots you have, well, a more limited space to evoke emotion and stuff. I get that. ;p

I completely agree. Some of my older writings are just horrendous, but I made myself promise not to take them off the site just because of that, lol. It serves as motivation, that we can really improve as we practice. :)

That's a lot of fandoms, actually! I find it really hard to expand my fandoms, but to be honest my interest in fanfiction is forever waning, lol. XD Greek Mythology sounds like a really fun one to write for. How ever did you start?

Date: 2011-08-08 02:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
no, I suppose not. I tend to think things I say don't make sense, haha. and to each his own - I enjoy multi-chapters but oneshots are my favorite and you're the opposite.

mmm. I've worked with a couple people on my writing so I can openly say I've improved; plus I've worked with myself on it and developed a nicer style. practice makes perfect. :)

haha, I've always though it was a few. I'm interested in a lot of characters and pairings across the board so I like to spread it out. I'm not so interested in fanfiction more than the way I write the characters - do you know what I mean? it's nice to take a well-developed character and give them a completely new angle. not to mention fanfiction can really help you write different scenarios.

Greek Mythology is really fun, actually. my mom is a classicist so she works with ancient Greek and Roman stuff, so I've grown up with that Mythology for like, bedtime stories, and I wanted to try out fanfiction for it. plus I'm a big Mythology geek, haha.

Date: 2011-08-10 02:31 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
It really depends on my mood! Sometimes I enjoy multichaps better, sometimes one-shots. At the moment it's multichaps, though for the life of me I can't seem to find time for them anymore. Grr.

Oh, have you? That's so exciting! Practice is really good. ♥

Yeah, I can sort of understand what you mean, I guess. There's no boundary or limit to fanfiction. :) Are you interested in original fiction as well?

Wow, your mom's a classicist! How fascinating. Is it like an occupation of hers or just an interest? What does one do, exactly? o_o I like Mythology, but I have to admit I've never delved too much into it.

Date: 2011-08-10 04:05 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
I suppose it's the same for me, just depending on my patience. And typically I'm not that patient. ^____^

Haha, it's not that exciting, but it's fun.

I do write original things, too. I'm actually working on a book now, if that proves anything.

She is. And it is fascinating. She works at Yale as a Classics Professor, actually. They work on things like Homer and other ancient works -- as well as customs in Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. It's really interesting.

At the moment I do prefer one-shots. I've been so, so busy. School is officially killing me. ;___;

Ooh, that's so awesome! What is it about, if I may ask? :)

Definitely. That way you get to learn all this really fun stuff, too. I've always been interested in Ancient Greece (or, well, history in general, actually), and I've wanted to take a class in college but I need to take classes for my major, so that's out of the window. :/

Ah, gosh, sorry for taking so long to reply.

One-shots are just easier to read, I guess, even though good multi-chaps are definitely worth taking your time with. I haven't started school yet, actually, but I'm getting ready, haha.

It's still rough, and I've haven't written a whole lot of it but it's a future-fic about, basically, a tyrant king and it's sort of sci-fi, sort of fantasy. Agh, it's hard to explain. I have sketches of clothes and like, names and a plot and stuff but it's still hard to write out.

Yeah, it's nice for me to have grown up with academics and her job. I'm a big history buff so it's great to just ask her things about Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire and get answers I might not at school. I'm actually still faaar away from college but I hope to take some Classics as well as English and World History. Things change, though, so I might turn to the Math side of things. :)

Date: 2011-08-21 11:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
Aww, it's okay. I haven't been around that much, either. :p

When do you start school?

I think the most interesting part of writing a original fiction is making character designs and world-building. :p Good luck with your future fic, and I hope you have fun! ♥

How nice for you! I think it's great that you have a fair idea of what you're going to do at college, though, no matter how young or old you are. At least this way you have some sort of direction! And wow, Math? Like you mean Engineering-related Math or... actual Math? :D

From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
well I suppose, but I still feel the need to apologize. it's a bad habit of mine. or maybe a good one?

I start August 31st. I'm in the US.

yeah -- I'm really enjoying putting together characters and the world, and the fact it's a mix of science and magic makes it even more interesting. of course, plot matters too, haha.

mm. I'm pretty sure I want to focus on the arts during high school and limit myself to simply academics and writing during college. so, writing/singing/acting throughout high school and then just writing and english and history later on. and math-math, not engineering. I'm not huge on it but my dad is a physicist so...maybe I'll change courses entirely. who knows? :D

I am so, so sorry for the late response. I'm on a hiatus since my workload is elephant-sized. XD

So school has started now! How are you? ♥

I'm doing media and creative writing in college. To tell you the truth, it's driving me crazy. In a sense I think doing a writing degree is harder than, say, doing a business degree. It really screws up with your head, haha, but then it's also really exciting and fulfilling. I do hope you get to decide on what you're gonna do, though - the earlier you know, I've heard, the better your "commitment", so to speak.

Date: 2011-09-05 02:16 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
Hey, it's cool. I hope the workload dies down!

Yes, yes it has. It's been good, considering we haven't done anything particularly interesting yet. Actual school work starts tomorrow, because today is Labor Day. So far we've worked on 'back-to-school' stuff, so. However, I'm (personally) good! It's nice to have something to do, you know? Considering I do absolutely nothing over the summer, much to my dismay.

That sounds cool! Although I'm sure getting a writing degree is really strenuous. Also, your head can't be screwed that much--you make such a good conversation partner! ^______^ Exciting and fulfilling is good. To keep your head from being too unscrewed.

I'll probably do psychology and creative writing. Still, English is always a choice. I've been very interested in psych lately, and I think I'll stick to that. So I have a vague idea of what I want to do. Or a little less than vague.

Date: 2011-09-28 04:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
It won't, haha. At least not until mid-November. Again, so sorry for the very late reply. I have no excuse, and I have a feeling it's not gonna get better. I'm bracing myself for weeks and weeks of all-nighters, now! :(

So how's school going for you?

Getting a writing degree is one of the most fulfilling and torturing things I can do, I think. It's really, really, really tiring and it sucks out all of my writing time, so I hardly write fanfiction anymore. It's like I'm writing for college classes so much, so when it comes to writing for myself I get all confused. :/

I actually sort of regret not ever taking psychology. It's really interesting, and from what I've heard, kind of theory-based though there are some practical sides to it as well. What does an English degree entail, exactly? Does it mean you'll be reading literature and analyzing them throughout your college years?

Date: 2011-10-04 08:54 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
Ack, my apologies. Then I hope you get some sleep!

Don't worry about taking your time, I don't mind at all.

School is fine! It's actually going pretty well, compared to the horrors of last year. And, of course, compared to the horrors of getting a writing degree. I'm sorry it's so tiring! I can't imagine it. But I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end...

Sort of.

Mmm, that's why I'm looking at it. I'm really interested in the way a human works, I guess, though that sounds sort of freaky. Ahaha. An English degree seems to be along those lines. I'm still trying to find out, but the subject has always been interesting for me, along with history.

Good luck with surviving, then~

Date: 2011-10-05 02:30 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
Aww, thanks. I'll manage. :)

Ooh, I'm sure this will be worth it, too, in the end. I'm just a bit concerned about the what-ifs (i.e. what if I took something else and it turns out to be more worth it?). But eh, there's nothing I can do about it now. It's nice to hear that school's going on well for you! Is it better in terms of workload? Friends? Or something else?

No, it doesn't sound freaky at all, actually! Hahaha. And history sounds amazing, as well. I've always been interested in it though I've never really pursued it. Are you interested in a particular era?

Date: 2011-10-05 02:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hardcover-faces.livejournal.com
Haha, I'm glad. :)

Yeah, I guess there are always doubts. But, you know, concentrating on the good things is sometimes hard. Especially with something so frustrating. My school is going well because of friends, I think. Last year was really awful for just about everyone - in terms of drama - so having more people I like to hang out with is really great. The work isn't really hard, but I'm not speaking for everyone.

Well, that's good. I wouldn't want to creep you out. Mhm, I adore history. I'm very much into the humanities, as you might've noticed. I'm mostly interested in World History in general, but the Ancient civilizations such as Greece and Egypt are probably my favorite out of everything. Only if I have to choose.

Date: 2011-10-07 04:22 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] seynee.livejournal.com
Everyone has their "down time" so I think it's okay to feel a bit frustrated/confused/etc. sometimes, as long as you can bounce back and still find the good things in... other stuff, haha. It's great that you have friends that you enjoy being with, though - I think it's key to a wonderful high school experience. Mine was honestly the best times of my life because of my friends. ;)

Oh, don't you worry. World History sounds amazing. Have you ever thought of doing archaeology?
